SnapMark Privacy Policy

SnapMark is a free Chrome extension for capturing screenshots and adding annotations. Screenshots are processed locally on your device whenever possible.

Data we collect

• Screenshot data — processed locally in your browser. SnapMark does not upload screenshots to our servers.
• Settings — annotation colors, line width, and preferences stored in chrome.storage.local on your device.
• Affiliate click counts — anonymous counters (partner ID and source such as "popup" or "editor") stored locally to understand which recommendations are useful. No personal data is sent to us.
• Usage counter — a local count of captures, stored on your device only.

Sponsored recommendations & affiliate links

SnapMark is free and may show sponsored tool recommendations in the popup and editor. Partner links (e.g. Linear, Notion, Loom) open only when you click them. We may earn a commission if you sign up through these links at no extra cost to you. You can disable recommendations in Settings.

Display ads (e.g. EthicalAds) may appear in the extension UI when enabled. Ads are shown only inside SnapMark's own interface, never injected into websites you visit.

Permissions explained

• activeTab — capture the current tab when you click SnapMark.
• scripting — scroll the page for full-page capture.
• storage — save settings and temporary capture data.
• downloads — save annotated PNG files.
• clipboardWrite — copy images to your clipboard.
• offscreen — stitch full-page screenshot slices locally.

Third-party services

When you click a partner link, you leave SnapMark and visit a third-party website governed by that site's privacy policy. Display ad networks (if enabled) may collect data according to their own policies.

Data retention

Temporary screenshot data is kept in browser memory and IndexedDB while you edit. Small captures may also use session storage. Data is cleared when you close the editor or restart the browser. We do not operate a backend that stores your screenshots.
